HUB-SPINDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
14B. Place a bolt in the hub’s bolt circle. Place a torque wrench on the bolt and pull the
torque wrench smoothly toward you at approximately 3.5 R.P.M. Initial rolling torque
should be 25-35 inch.-lbs. See Diagram 1 on page 11 for correct position of torque
wrench.
15B. Spin the hub and re-torque until there is a final rolling torque reading of 5-10 in.-
lbs. higher than the initial rolling torque reading. [Example: Initial was 30 in.-lbs. Final
should be 35-40 in.-lbs.] Now go on to step 17.
17.
Now that the rolling toque is correct, bend the aligned tang of
lockwasher (1J)
into
the slot in
locknut (1K).
18.
Stake the
locknut (1K)
in four equally spaced places 1/8 inch from the inner edge
of the locknut.

: Wear safety glasses during this step:

Using retaining ring pliers, place
retaining ring (1L)
over
locknut (1K)
.
20.
Apply a light coat of “Never-Seize” to
pipe plug (1N)
. tighten
pipe plug (1N)
into
the pipe plug hole in side of
hub (1G)
.
21.
Apply a light coat of “Never-Seize” to
pipe plug (1P)
. Tighten
pipe plug (1P)
into
the pipe plug hole in side of
hub (1G).
22.
At this point the hub-spindle sub-assembly is complete.
