INSTALLATION
At this stage in the operation, it is essential that all operators involved use personal protection equipment ( safety shoes,
gloves etc.) suitable also for consequent operations, and moreover, they must make certain that all equipment needed
for moving the machine (raising and transportation equipment) and/or other operations are fit for their intended purpose
and equipped with all necessary safety components.
When using the elevator truck for unloading and/or transportation, the load must not exceed the maximum limit.
At this stage, the truck driver must have a clear view of the area of operation and the cargo.
It is wise to remember at this stage:
1. The load must be raised vertically and not dragged.
2. Loading must not take place with people on board.
3. The load must be supported on the ground in a spacious area.
4. The load must be supported on the ground in a situation of total stability.
All the above must be carried out in accordance with the laws, provisions and regulations in force in the country of
installation.
STARTING UP THE MACHINE
Once the packaging used for transportation has been removed, the machine is ready for use: all that is needed now is to
insert the plug supplied with the machine into the nearest socket, ensuring that the electric wire is not left on the floor
causing an obstruction.
MAINTENANCE
These notes contain important information regarding the achievement of general objectives to which the maintenance
function is bound (in uncertain situations, the objectives are not subject to such strict regulations); however it must be
remembered that preventive maintenance is such that it prevents decay, and not such in that it may be implemented
prior to inspection of a fault.
Establishing a maintenance routine does not require expertise: however, reference has been made to the tried and
tested maintenance plan – that is, keeping a register of maintenance and inspection, in which the most significant
interventions are noted.
It must also be remembered that the head operator, during the production cycle, should be the principal maintenance
man as regards the following:
1. uncovering anticipated irregularities such as breakdowns, faults and so on.
2. being capable of quickly and opportunely resolving any irregularities discovered.
3. being capable of objectively defining the ideal operating conditions, on the basis of which developing assessment
standards.
4. being capable of defining the range of functions of all components, thus acquiring the necessary skills required to
prevent faults, identifying and removing the causes and their intrinsic defects.
Following the maintenance operation, and before reassigning the machine to the operator, it is compulsory to reinstate
the necessary safety conditions.
During any maintenance operation, a warning notice must be affixed onto the machine, advising that the machine is
undergoing maintenance.
All maintenance and cleaning must be carried out on a stationary machine.
Following stoppage and before being reactivated, the machine must be inspected in order to remove any factors which
may have caused the stoppage. The machine should then be drained, thus preventing possible repetition of the event.
