Maintenance
If the smoke detector emits a beep
every minute check whether:
• the detector has a battery fault,
• the detection head is obstructed by
dust.
Servicing the detection head
We recommend that you clean the
detection slots with a vacuum cleaner
at least once a year.
The smoke detector should be repla-
ced every 5 years.
Battery fault indication
When you press the test button, the
red LED indicator lamp should come
on to confirm the battery is working
properly. If the lamp fails to come on,
you must replace the old battery with
a new one.
The control panel also memorises the
detector battery fault (to change the
battery refer to the § on “Opening the
detector”).
Dispose of the old batteries
in a battery recycling bin.
Recommendations
When the product is opened its internal
components may be damaged by
electrostatic discharge.
The following precautions must therefore
be taken during maintenance or repair
operations:
• cut the 220 V mains and the 12 V
external power supply,
• do not touch the electronic components
or metal parts of their connections either
directly or with a metal tool,
• do not touch the electronic components

• use non-magnetic tools,
• discharge any static electricity in your
clothes by touching a bare metallic surface
such as a water pipe or earthed electrical
devices before accessing the internal
components,
• avoid moving around when accessing the
internal components several times during
the same operation, to avoid electrostatic
charge build-up. Otherwise, apply the
precautions above every time you need to
access the components,
• if an electronic board has to be withdrawn,
place it in an antistatic bag or box.
