CONNECTING LOUDSPEAKERS

The left and right loudspeakers are connected to the rear
panel sockets   and

respectively of the

Cyrus Straight

Line

using the plugs provided. First, fit the plugs to the

loudspeaker cables. Carefully note that the cable carries
marking or colours for polarity, (+ and -) may also be
marked for direction with an arrow. For correct operation,
it is essential that the (+ and - ) terminals of the

Cyrus

Straight Line

are connected to the corresponding (+ and -)

terminals of the loudspeakers. When fitting the plugs to
the cables be sure to line up (+ and -) at each end. The
loudspeaker plugs can now be fitted into the speaker
sockets of the

Cyrus Straight Line

.

POWER CONTROL

The mains power switch

is located on the rear panel of

the

Cyrus Straight Line

(refer to the rear panel drawing on

page 4). This switch should be left on for normal
operation, except when left unattended for a long period.
In this case the mains power should then be switched off
or the product disconnected from the AC supply.

Refer now to the front panel drawing on page 7.

When the

Cyrus Straight Line

is in regular use and the

power is  permanently on, the STANDBY key

should

be used

for power control. The Standby light

will show red

when the

Cyrus Straight Line

 is off and green when

operating.

SELECTING AN INPUT FOR LISTENING

Use the Input Selector switch

to select the desired

source input. Remember to turn the volume control

to

minimum when switching between sources.

RECORD AND PLAYBACK

If the tape recorder connections are made according to the
previous instruction in this manual, then you will be able
to listen to a recording by selecting the TAPE MONITOR
switch - TP

.

To cancel this, press the TP switch again. If your tape
deck have a three-head facility, then you can use the TP
switch to monitor the recording quality directly from the
third head, whilst recording. You can record from a source
by selecting the appropriate input on the input selector and
following the instructions in your tape deck manual.

VOLUME CONTROL

The VOLUME CONTROL

 of the

Cyrus Straight Line

follows a logarithmic law. This means that as you turn the
control up or down, the amplifier volume level tracks your
hearing pattern in a stable and consistent manner.
