1. Charge the Battery
Before using the ALS for the first time, be sure to fully charge the battery, using the supplied battery
charger and charging case.
1. The leveling unit must be placed in the charging case such that when the lid is closed, the charging
pins on the lid make electrical contact with the curved charging contacts on the wafer.
2. Connect the power supply to the charging case via the connector on the top of the charging case.
3. Connect the AC power cord to the power supply.
4. Plug the AC power cord into a 100-240VAC outlet.
The Charging status light will remain on while the unit is charging. The Charging Done status light will
indicate when battery reaches full charge.
2. Install CyberSpectrum
™
Software
To run the CyberSpectrum software, your computer must have Windows 7, 8, or 10 operating system.
To Install the software:

CyberOptics. Additional information can be found on the User’s Guide installed at the same time.
3. Install Wireless Link Hardware
The CyberSpectrum software must be installed prior to connecting and installing the ALS Link. To install the
wireless link:
1. Connect the Link module to a high power USB port with included USB cable.
2. Windows recognizes the link module hardware and the “Found New Hardware” wizard will appear.
Select “Install the software automatically (Recommended)”, if prompted.
3. If there is a message that the software “has not passed Windows Logo testing” click “continue anyway.”
The device driver is now installed and the Power light on the link module turns on indicating that the
module is getting power from the USB port.
4. Turn ON and OFF
To turn on the ALS unit, press the ON/OFF button once. The Power LED will come on. Once the unit is in
communication with the Link, the Pair Status and Connection Status LEDs will be on without blinking. To
turn the ALS unit off, press the ON/OFF button again.
5. Run CyberSpectrum
™
Run the application by navigating to Start menu > Programs > CyberOptics > CyberSpectrum. It will take
a few seconds to begin receiving updates from the ALS unit. If CyberSpectrum is not running, the ALS
unit automatically turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity. Full details are contained in the User Manual
that can be accessed via the CyberSpectrum About Menu.
