Anti-theft alarm

Note
If the 12-volt vehicle battery has little or
no charge, or the vehicle key battery is al-
most or entirely out of charge, you will prob-
ably not be able to lock or unlock the vehi-
cle with the Keyless Access system. The ve-
hicle can be unlocked and locked manually
.
Note
If there is no vehicle key in the vehicle or the
system does not detect it, a warning will be
displayed in the Digital Cockpit. This could
happen if any other radio frequency signal
interferes with the key signal or if the key is
covered by another object, e.g. a metal case.
Anti-theft alarm
Description
Depending on the equipment, the vehicle may
be fitted with an anti-theft alarm.
The anti-theft alarm monitors the doors, front
bonnet and rear lid.
The anti-theft alarm system activates automat-
ically when the vehicle is locked.
If the vehicle is not opened electronically with
a valid key, the alarm triggers and emits audio
and light signals for a maximum of approx. 5
minutes.
When is the anti-theft alarm triggered?
•
If a mechanically unlocked door is opened
with the vehicle key.
•
If the front bonnet is opened.
•
If the rear lid is opened.
•
If an invalid vehicle key is used.
•
If there are movements inside the ve-
hicle (in vehicles with interior monitoring
•
If the vehicle is lifted or towed (for vehicles
with an anti-tow system
.
•
If the vehicle is transported on a ferry or by
rail (in vehicles with an anti-tow system or inte-
rior monitoring
•
If the 12-volt battery is disconnected.
•
If the window is broken.
Switching off the alarm
•
Unlock the vehicle with the vehicle key un-
locking button .
•
Grip the door handle.
•
Switch the ignition on.
Please note:
to turn
on the ignition, place the vehicle key in the
area provided for it to perform an emergency
start
Note
If the 12-volt battery is low or discharged, the
anti-theft alarm will not work properly.
Interior monitoring and anti-tow
system
If movement is detected in the vehicle interior
while the vehicle is locked, the interior moni-
toring triggers the alarm.
If it detects that the vehicle is being lifted, the
anti-tow system triggers the alarm.
Switching on the interior monitoring and the
anti-tow systems
•
Lock the vehicle. When the anti-theft alarm
is activated, the interior monitoring and the
anti-tow system are as well.
Depending on the equipment, the use of a
partition net can affect the operation of the
interior monitoring system.
Temporarily switching off the interior moni-
toring and anti-tow systems
You can temporarily switch off the interior
monitoring and anti-tow system in the infotain-
ment system, in the
Opening and closing
sub-menu
. The interior monitor-
ing and anti-tow system remain deactivated
until the next time the vehicle is locked.
Interior monitoring and the anti-tow system
can also be switched off in the departure
menu. To do this, the ignition must be switched
off
.
