Diagnostic Information
When a slave device encounters an alarm or error condition, it transmits a diagnostic
message back to the Profibus interface. The diagnostic information can be retrieved by the
2500 controller user logic and saved in V memory table by using the RLL Read Slave
Diagnostic (RSD) instruction. The saved information can then be processed in user logic or
read by HMI workstations. See the

for details
regarding the RSD instruction.
It is always a good practice to retrieve and monitor the slave diagnostic data. It can provide
a significant benefit in troubleshooting Profibus network problems if they should occur.
