Before each use and seasoning your cookware
BEFORE FIRST USE AND AFTER EACH USE
• Hand wash in warm water and towel dry immediately. Do not
soak cast iron. Do not air dry.
• After drying, rub all surfaces of your cast iron cookware with
a light coat of cooking oil using a cloth. Only a very thin coat
of oil is required. Too much oil will cause stickiness.
RE-SEASONING YOUR COOKWARE–
REPEAT AS NEEDED
• Thoroughly hand wash in warm, soapy water. Rinse and towel
dry immediately.
• Coat all surfaces of cast iron cookware with a thin layer
of cooking oil or melted shortening using a cloth.
• Place the item in a preheated oven at 300
o
F for one hour.
• Place a baking pan or aluminum foil on lower rack
to catch drippings.
• After one hour, turn off the oven and allow cookware
to cool gradually.
IN CASE OF RUSTING
• Use a scouring pad to remove and wash away all rust.
• Towel dry immediately after hand washing.
• Follow the re-seasoning instruction steps 2-5 above.
