Backup Battery
This security system includes a 9 volt alkaline battery and a slide bracket holder
which attaches to the security system control module. The 9 volt battery is all that is
required to provide alternative power to operate the system if the vehicle's battery is
disconnected. A built-in protection circuit will not allow the 9 volt battery to back feed
voltage into the vehicle's electrical system.
While on backup battery power, to conserve the backup battery, the system will not
have some functions - flashing exterior lights and the LED Status Indicator. The siren
will still have full sound output, and all trigger circuits will be active except current
sensing and any optional sensors. The Starter Interrupt, however, will work at all times
from battery backup. Replacement 9 volt alkaline batteries can be purchased
anywhere batteries are sold. We recommend the battery be replaced with another
alkaline battery every 18 months or after the 9 volt battery has operated the alarm on
its own for any length of time. Under the following conditions, a new 9 volt alkaline
battery's life is anticipated to be approximately:
1. 2 days as the only power source to the system while in the armed condition.
2. 25 triggered cycles. A triggered cycle is the 60 second period after the security
system is triggered, in which the siren is sounding. The cycle ends when the
system automatically resets to the armed state.
3. 50 separate transmitter arm and disarm activations.
4. 18 months if the 9 volt battery circuit has not been activated.

Optional Trunk Release And 3rd Channel Output
Optional Trunk Release: If your vehicle is equipped with electric trunk release,
your authorized Crime Guard dealer can configure your system to accomplish trunk
release from your transmitter. To operate this option when equipped, simply press and
hold the small transmitter button on the right for 3 seconds. Your vehicle will respond
by releasing the trunk lid, chirping the siren twice, disarming the system and turning
on your exterior and interior lights for 30 seconds. Note: The trunk release output will
not operate with the ignition switch "on" unless the vehicle's door is open.
If desired, your Crime Guard dealer can program the security system to remain
armed when this feature is used.
Optional 3rd Channel Output: This output's operation is the same as the trunk
release output except for the following items: Press the small transmitter button on the
left for 3 seconds to activate the 3rd channel output. The 3rd channel output will not
operate while the ignition switch is "on", and there is no chirp confirmation. This
output can be used to operate optional equipment such as remote car starters or
window roll-up modules.
will respond by activating the siren, locking the doors and flashing the exterior and
interior lights for 60 seconds. Should wish to enter your vehicle or disengage Remote
Panic, simply press and release the large transmitter button.
