D - ASSEMBLY

1.  Assemble motor support (19) and casing (1) to column
 

pipe (101). Setscrews (520) should not be turned too 

 

tightly because casing will have to be turned later to 

 align 

fl

 oat rod (529).

2.  For Type A, replace split cover plate (23). Setscrews 
 

(542) should not be turned too tightly because cover 

 

plate will have to be turned later to align 

fl

 oat rod (529) 

 

and discharge pipe (161).

3.  Place pump shaft (6) as a unit with lower half of 
 

coupling (42), adjusting nut (66) and thrust bearing 

 

(18) in place, thru motor support (19), column pipe 

 

(101) and casing (1). Replace bearing snap ring (18).

4.  Replace Woodruff key (32) and impeller (2) on shaft 
 

(6). Tap impeller onto shaft taper. Replace impeller 

 

washer (270) and tighten impeller nut (24).

5.  Assemble suction head strainer (316) to casing (1). 
 

Assemble base (53) to suction head strainer (316).

6.  Place coupling spider on lower half of coupling. 
 

Replace motor and top half of coupling on motor 

 

support (19). Replace motor cap screws (219).

7.  Replace discharge pipe. Attach 

fl

 oat switch (535) to 

 

motor support (19). Install 

fl

 oat rod assembly. Loosen 

 

setscrew (520) and turn casing (1) to align 

fl

 oat rod  

 

(529) parallel to column pipe (101), If necessary turn  

 

fl

 oat rod guide (527) to obtain proper 

fl

 oat rod  

 

alignment. Tighten setscrews (520). Tighten setscrews  

 

(542) (Type A only).

8.  Check impeller adjustment. Shaft and impeller should 
 

turn freely in casing. Connect motor wiring.
