Installing and Removing the Battery Pack

WARNING:
Ensure the tool/appliance is in the off
position before inserting the battery pack.
nOTE:
For best results, make sure your battery pack is
fully charged.
To install the battery pack

battery pack with the rails inside the tool’s base and slide it
into the base until the battery pack is firmly seated in the tool
and ensure that it does not disengage.

Changing Accessories (Fig. A)
WARNING:
Ensure that the exposed mandrel length
is no more than .5” (13 mm) after inserting accessory
into collet.
WARNING:
Use only accessories up to 1‑1/4" (32mm)
in diameter and rated at 34000 RPM or greater.
WARNING:
Do not attach a toothed saw blade. Such
blades create frequent kickback and loss of control.

The screw, drum sander and felt mandrel accessories
should be assembled after the mandrels are installed into the
rotary tool.

stones, drill bits, wire brush wheels, cutters.

: Use with cut‑off wheels and polishing
wheels. Place the washer between the accessory and
the screw.

: Used with sanding drums. Push the
sanding drum over the mandrel and completly cover the
drum. If needed tighten the screw on the end of the mandrel
to expand the drum and secure the sanding drum in place.
Spindle Lock Button (Fig. A)
CAUTION:
Turn tool off before changing accessories.

Felt mandrel

: Use with felt polishing wheels. Push the felt
polishing wheel onto the felt mandrel to secure in place.
To Insert an Accessory
1. Depress the ON/OFF button to turn tool off. Allow tool to
come to a complete stop.
2. Remove the battery pack.
3. Press and hold the spindle lock button

and grasp
the collet nut

4. Use the supplied wrench to turn the collet nut

counterclockwise until it is loose.
5. Insert the accessory mandrel

into the

6. Use the supplied wrench to turn the collet nut

clockwise to tighten the collet nut

securely onto the
accessory mandrel.
nOTE:
A wrench is provided with the tool, use only the
wrench provided. Do not use tools that could damage
the finish or break the collet. Always ensure there is an
accessory in the collet before tightening, tightening an
empty collet can damage it.
7. When finished, release the spindle lock button

nOTE:
If an accessory vibrates it can usually be corrected
by loosening the collet nut

as far as it will go, rotating it 1/4 turn and then retighten
the collet

Fixing Stuck Collets (Fig. H)
It is possible for a collet to get stuck within the collet nut
especially if a collet nut is tightened onto the tool without a
bit in place. If this happens, the collet can be removed from
the collet nut by pushing the shank of an accessory into the
hole in the collet nut. This should cause the collet to pop out
of the collet nut. Inspect collet for cracks.
CRAFTSMAN chargers, except the CMCB101, can be
stored on CRAFTSMAN VersaTrack™ Trackwall. Hooks and
accessories are sold separately. Please refer to the VersaTrack™
Trackwall accessory sheet for further information.
nOTE:
The CMCB101 charger is not CRAFTSMAN VersaTrack™
Trackwall compatible.
