4. Use
•
Caution:
Do not overload the tool; let it work at its own pace.
•
Always be aware of where the power lead is so that it does get cut. A good way to keep the lead under
control is to place it over your shoulder.
•
To ensure that the trimmer is operated as safely as possible it is fitted with dual safety switches which
prevent accidental starts and require that the trimmer be gripped with both hands in order to start the motor.
•
Adjust the rear handle to a comfortable working position and calmly go over all the steps of your task in your
mind before beginning to cut.
4.1 Preparations
1. First feed the extension lead through the rear
handle and loop it round the lead holder
(10). Plug the hedge trimmer power lead into
the extension lead.
2. Plug the extension lead into a wall socket.
3. Hold the hedge trimmer firmly with both
hands and make sure that the blades are not
touching anything.
4.2 Starting / Stopping
Start the motor by holding in both the front (4)
and rear (7) safety switches simultaneously.
Allow the motor to come up to full speed before
starting to cut the hedge.
Stop the motor by releasing one or both of
the safety switches (4), (7).
4.3 Adjusting the handle
The hedge trimmer has a rear handle (9) that can
be set to one of five positions for comfortable
operation no matter what the task.
1. Pull the catch (6) back and move the handle (9)
to the desired position.
2. Release the catch (6) and move the handle (9)
a little to make sure that it locks into position.
N.B.
The hedge trimmer must be switched off whilst the handle is adjusted, it is not possible to pull back
the handle release catch at the same time as you are holding in the safety switch (7).
