f) If for some reason you must use a power tool in a wet environment, always
connect it to the mains via an earth-fault circuit breaker such as an RCD (residual
current device). Using an RCD significantly reduces the chances of you receiving
an electric shock.
3) Personal safety
a) Pay attention to what you do and use common sense when using a power tool.
Never use a power tool if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol
or medicine. A moment’s inattention when using a power tool could result in
a serious personal injury.
b) Wear protective clothing. Always wear safety glasses. The use of personal
protective equipment such as dust masks, non-slip footwear, helmets and ear
defenders where appropriate will reduce the risk of personal injury.
c) Avoid accidental starts. Make sure that the trigger switch is set to OFF before
plugging the tool into a wall socket. Never carry a power tool with your finger on
the trigger/on switch and never plug a power tool into a wall socket when the
power switch is set to ON.
d) Remove all service tools/keys before switching on the power tool. A service tool
left on a moving part of a power tool could result in a serious injury.
e) Do not overreach. Make sure you stand steady and well balanced at all times.
This will allow you to have more control in unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep hair,
clothes and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair
can become caught in moving parts.
g) If equipment for the extraction/collection of dust is available, make sure that it is
connected and used correctly. The use of such equipment can vastly reduce dust
related hazards.
4) Use and maintenance of power tools
a) Do not force the power tool. Use a power tool suited for the work you are
about to perform. The correct power tool will perform the work better and safer
especially if used at the correct feed rate.
b) Do not use the power tool if the on/off switch or trigger does not turn the tool
on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled by its on/off switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Unplug the power tool from the wall socket before making any adjustments,
changing accessories or leaving the tool unattended. These precautions reduce
the risk of the power tool starting unexpectedly.
d) Store power tool that are no being used out of reach of children and do not
let anyone unfamiliar with the use of the power tool or who has not read these
instructions to use it. Electrical power tools can be dangerous if they fall into
the hands of inexperienced users.
