Initial operation

ƒ

Plug the protective adapter into a correct mains socket (230V~/50Hz).

In case of operation outdoors or in damp rooms, you MUST observe the
operating site. The socket on the protective adapter must point downwards, the
two buttons upwards. The flap of the socket on the protective adapter opens
upwards.
Also observe the arrows on the type plate. In case of a wrong position, water may
penetrate the protective adapter! Mortal danger!

ƒ

Turn off the consumer you wish to connect to the protective adapter.

ƒ

Open the flap of the protective adapter, connect the consumer with the socket of the
protective adapter.

Prior to using the device, check that the protective equipment triggers each time! For
this purpose, proceed as follows:

ƒ

Press the button “TEST” on the protective adapter. It must trigger audibly. The signal lamp
will go out.

ƒ

Press the button “RESET” of the protective adapter (twice if necessary, if the signal lamp
does not light up the first time). It is now ready for operation and the signal lamp is activated.

ƒ

Put the consumer connected to the protective adapter into operation.

If the protective adapter triggers when operating the connected consumer,
detach the consumer from the adapter and do not operate it any longer!
Then check the consumer for possible damage. If in doubt, take it to a specialist
workshop or have it tested by an electrician.

ƒ

If you do not want to use the consumer any longer, turn it off and separate it from the
protective adapter. Then you can remove the protective adapter from the mains socket.

Maintenance and care

The product does not require any maintenance. You should never open it or take it apart.
Before cleaning the product, disconnect it from the socket. Clean the outer side with a dry,
clean, soft cloth. Never use aggressive cleansing agents or solvents since these may damage
the surface of the housing or impair its operation.

Disposal

Electronic and electronic devices must not be disposed of in the domestic waste.
Dispose of the product at the end of its serviceable life according to the relevant
legal provisions and regulations (e.g. return it to a special recycling facility of your
town).

Operating Instructions

Protective Adapter

„RCD“ („EMP200S“)

Intended Use

The protective adapter detects fault currents and interrupts the power supply of a connected
consumer when these occur (>30mA).
The product is resistant to water jets in acc. with IP44 and can be operated indoors and
outdoors (observe the operating site, see "Commissioning")

All safety instructions and notes on operation in this manual must be observed. These
instructions not only protect the device but, in particular, your health. Please read the
entire operating manual before using the product. Thank you!

Safety instructions

In case of damage incurred by disregarding this instruction manual, the
warranty claim is void. Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury,
caused by improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. The
warranty is voided in these cases.

ƒ

The unauthorized opening, conversion and/or modification of the product is
inadmissible because of safety and approval reasons (CE).

ƒ

The product is designed in conformity with protection class 2. The only voltage
source that may be used is the correct mains socket-(230V/50Hz, with
protective conductor) of the public supply system.

ƒ

The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.
Therefore, be especially careful when children are around. Children might try
to put objects through the openings of the socket for example. There is a risk
of a fatal electric shock.

ƒ

The product may be operated indoors and outdoors.
In case of operation outdoors or in damp rooms, you MUST observe the
operating site (see "Commissioning"). In case of a wrong position, water may
penetrate the protective adapter! Mortal danger!

ƒ

A damaged consumer may not be connected to the protective adapter.

ƒ

The protective adapter cuts off the mains voltage for the connected consumer
in case of fault currents >30mA (two-pole cutoff). Injuries to persons due to an
electric shock can still not be ruled out under adverse conditions.
Contact a physician after an electric shock!

ƒ

The use of the protective adapter is only a basic safety measure. Always
observe the proper handling of your electric consumers.

ƒ

If the housing of the protective adapter is damaged, do not use the product any
more! If it is still connected to the mains neither touch the protective adapter
nor the connected device. Switch off the mains socket first to which it is
connected (switch off the circuit breaker). Then you can remove the protective
adapter from the mains socket. Take the product to a specialist workshop or
dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way.

ƒ

Never pull a mains plug connected to the socket of the protective adapter out
of the outlet by the cable. Always pull the plug from the socket by the gripping
area provided on the side.

ƒ

Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become a dangerous toy
for children!

ƒ

Handle the product carefully, it can be damaged by impacts, strikes or by
falling from a low height.
