b) Operating Modes
The device supports the operating modes “Repeater” and “Access Point”.
• The operating mode „Repeater“ increases the range of a present WLAN network. Networks
with 2.4GHz and a data rate of up to 300MBit are supported.
When the repeater is con
fi
gured and connected to your WLAN router, this will not generate a
new WLAN but only amplify the present one.
Therefore, it is not necessary to reconnect your computer to your router if it is already con-
nected. The repeater is automatically integrated into the network.
☞
Before you start con
fi
guration, your WLAN router should be switched on and con-
nected to the internet.
It is also necessary that the WLAN of your router is already completely con
fi
gured.
It is best to also observe the instructions of your router for this.
☞
Observe:
If you need to change something about your WLAN router‘s WLAN settings after
con
fi
guration of the repeater, you need to recon
fi
gure the repeater. You may have
to reset it to factory settings for this.
The
con
fi
guration is performed via the WPS function or via the web interface. If you con
fi
gure
the device via the web interface, you computer has to be connected via the LAN port.
Computers or other devices can be connected to the repeater via WLAN or via the network
connection.
• The operating mode „Access Point“ generates a new WLAN access point with a freely selecta-
ble SSID (WLAN name) and dedicated encryption.
The device is connected to your router after con
fi
guration with a 1:1-connected network cable.
Con
fi
guration is performed the web interface. Your computer must be connected to the re-
peater‘s LAN port for con
fi
guration.
Devices can be connected by WLAN only here after con
fi
guration.
