Intended Use
This video reading aid allows persons with restricted vision direct orientation on the sample while
seeing strongly magnified details on your TV set.
The video reading aid can capture a field of view of 51 x 38 mm and can magnify it to the whole
screen area of your TV set. The video transmission from the reading aid to the TV set is done
via provided AV cable (3.5 mm stereo jack to RCA connector).
It is powered by 3 x 1.5V micro batteries (type: AAA) or via the power transformer (5V/DC)
enclosed.
The camera and the power supply unit provided are only intended for operation in dry indoor
locations.
All the safety and operating instructions in this manual must be followed carefully. These instruc-
tions not only protect the device but, in particular, your health. Please read the entire operating
manual before using the product.

Explanation of the Symbols

A lightning-bolt symbol in a triangle indicates a health hazard, e.g. danger of electric
shock.
The exclamation mark in a triangle indicates a particular risk during handling,
operation and control.

The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions. Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!
We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty
will be void in such cases.
• The unauthorized opening, conversion and/or modification of this product is not
permitted because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
• When the video reading aid is activated do not direct it to the human eye or the
eyes of animals.
• The video reading aid and the power supply unit provided are only intended for
operation in dry indoor locations.
• It is powered by 3 x 1.5V micro batteries (type: AAA) or via the power transformer
(5V/DC) enclosed.
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. Therefore,
be especially careful when children are around.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.
• Never leave the packaging material lying around unattended. Plastic film /
bags etc. can be dangerous playthings for children, there is a risk of suffocation.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect
the device immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation.
• A safe operation can no longer be assumed, if:
- the device shows visible signs of damage,
- the device no longer functions and
- if the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time
or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer’s
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. Therefore,
be especially careful when children are around.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.
• Disconnect the power supply unit from the video reading aid before cleaning.

• Never pull on the cable of the wall plug transformer! Always unplug it from the
mains socket by gripping the plug housing.
• Never touch the wall plug transformer with wet or damp hands. There is a risk of a
lethal electric shock!
• Never replace damaged mains cables yourself. In such an event, disconnect the
appliance from the mains and take it to a specialist workshop.
• Never pour fluids out above electrical devices. You run the risk of causing a fire or
a fatal electric shock. If liquids enter the device, immediately disconnect it from the
power supply, remove the plug from the mains and consult an expert.
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair may only be carried out by a qualified
specialist or a specialised repair shop.
• If you have any questions, which are not answered in this manual, please contact
our technical service or another specialist.
Battery notes
• Batteries should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Please pay attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.
• Do not leave batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being swallowed by
children or domestic animals. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable
protective gloves.
• Make sure that the battery is neither short-circuited nor thrown into a fire. There is a risk of
explosion!
• Do not recharge normal batteries. There is a risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable
batteries that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• If it is not to be used for a while (e.g. storage), remove the battery. Old batteries may leak and
cause damage to the product, which will lead to the loss of the warranty/guarantee.
• For the environmentally friendly disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries, please read
the chapter „Disposal“.
First Time Use
• Open the battery compartment and insert 3 x 1.5 micro batteries (type: AAA) with the correct
polarity.
• Close the battery compartment.
• Connect the provided AV 3.5 stereo jack connection cable to the video reading aid. Connect
the other end with the RCA connector to your TV set.
• Turn your TV set on and select the desired channel.
• If necessary, connect the low-voltage plug of the power supply unit to the socket for power
supply (5V/DC).
• Plug the mains plug into a standard domestic socket (230V/AV 50 Hz).
How to use the video reading aid
• After correct connection of the video reading aid turn the on device. Press and hold the button
at the device for 1 second.
• The camera image of the video reading aid is shown on the TV set.
• To turn off the video reading aid press and hold the button at the device for 2 seconds.
Changing the Batteries
As soon as the battery voltage is too low and a battery replacement becomes necessary, the red
status LED is lit (on top of the video reading aid). To change the battery, proceed as follows:
• Open the battery compartment and insert 3 x 1.5 micro batteries (type: AAA) with the correct
polarity.
• Close the battery compartment.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Apart from a battery change, the device is maintenance-free.
It is sufficient to use a clean, dry and lint-free cloth to clean the product. Do not use any aggressive
cleaning agents as these could leave stains on the casing. Dust can be very easily removed
using a soft, clean brush and a vacuum cleaner.
