Using the jump leads
• Make sure that the hand brake is activated in both vehicles and that there is no gear engaged
(with automatic transmission vehicles select gears „P“ or „N“).
• Turn off all consumers of the vehicle with the exhausted accumulator (light, radio etc.).
• Turn off the engine of the vehicle with the charged accumulator.
• Pull both cigarette lighter plugs of the jump leads from the holders and unwind both cables
completely.
• Connect the black cigarette lighter plug to the respective socket of the vehicle with the charged
accumulator.
• Afterward insert the red cigarette lighter plug into the respective socket of the vehicle with the
exhausted accumulator.
In many vehicles the voltage at the cigarette lighter socket is shut down via the
ignition key.
In order to let the recharging process happen (operation display „Power“ and
„Charge“ are lit) the ignition of both vehicles has to be turned on.
Attention, do not start the engines anyway!
It is probable that the ignition switch has a special position where the on-board
voltage is activated but without actual ignition. Observe the operating instructions of
the vehicles.
• Depending on the condition of the exhausted accumulator the recharging time differs:
Degree of discharge
of the accumulator
Information and recharging time
Low
Wait until the LED „A“ lights up (recharging time of about 8
minutes). This recharging time is to be selected if, for example,
the lights of the vehicle still light up with the exhausted
accumulator but a start procedure is still not possible.
Intermediate
Wait until the LED „B“ lights up (recharging time of about 16
minutes). This recharging time is to be selected if, for example,
the lights of the vehicle have been turned on for about 14 hours
discharging the accumulator.
Strong
Wait until the LED „C“ lights up (recharging time of about 24
minutes). This recharging time is to be selected if, for example,
the lights of the vehicle have been turned on for about 24 hours
discharging the accumulator.
Very strong
Wait until the LED „D“ lights up (recharging time of about 32
minutes). This recharging time is to be selected if, for example,
the lights of the vehicle have been turned on for more than 24
hours discharging the accumulator.
• Pull the red cigarette lighter plug from the cigarette lighter socket, afterwards do the same with
the black one.
• Try to start the vehicle with the exhausted accumulator.
☞
If the vehicle cannot be started, you can try a second time to recharge the exhausted
accumulator.
Proceed repeatedly as described above, but wait this time until the LED „D“ lights up.
If the engine of the vehicle with the exhausted accumulator still cannot be started,
the accumulator is either deep discharged or damaged or there is another technical
problem present in the vehicle.
Storage
After giving a jump start the two cables are to be wound outside at the housing. Put the two
cigarette lighter plugs into the respective holders at the housing. Use the provided protective bag
for storage.
Fuse replacement
There is a micro fuse integrated in each cigarette lighter plug. It can be replaced very easily by
unscrewing the knurled wheel at the top of the cigarette lighter plug.
A 15A-type fuse 32x6mm, 250V is required for the fuse replacement (we recommend a quick
tripping characteristic F=“fast“). Never bypass a defected fuse; never use any other fuse type
than the one described above.
Cleaning
Before cleaning the product end operation. Clean the outside of the product with a dry, clean,
soft cloth.
Do not use aggressive detergents, or there could be changes in colour.
Disposal
When disposing of an unserviceable product, do so in line with the relevant statutory
regulations.
