Heating Attachment

Version 12/10

Item-No. 57 02 06

Intended Use

The heating attachment is intended, in particular, for use with a tangential fan (e.g. order no.
570184 or 570192). Using the heating attachment, a fan heater can be designed and built.

Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating
instructions.

This product complies with the applicable National and European requirements. All names of

Safety Instructions

The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions. Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!

We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The
warranty will be void in such cases.

• Work on the mains voltage can only be perform by qualified individuals, who have

the appropriate training and who are familiar with all safety regulations.

Improper work on the mains voltage, endangers not only your own life but also the
life of others.

There is a risk of a potentially fatal electric shock!

• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed

because of safety reasons. Never dismantle the product.

• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product

must be allowed to get damp or wet.

• Never operate the heating attachment without a suitable fan (e.g. tangential fan,

order no. 570184 or 570192).

• Only use the product when it has been installed in a suitable housing.

The housing must be heat-resistant. Furthermore, it must comply with the
applicable safety regulations (e.g. protection against accidental contact).

You are responsible for the proper use of the heating attachment!

• Do not operate the appliance when it is unattended.

• Keep combustible or easily flammable objects or fluids away from the heating

attachment. There is a fire and explosion risk.

Do not use the product in environments where flammable gases, dust or vapours
exist or might exist.  Risk of explosion!

• The product is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the

reach of children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.

Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.

• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous

playthings for children.

• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental

drops, even from a low height.

Connection/Installation

Important!

Observe the safety instructions!

• The heating attachment has two cables on the one side; and just the one on the other side.

They can be used to connect two separate heating circuits; thus, either 1000W or 2x 1000W
= 2000W heat output are available.

Heating circuit 1: Brown Cable #1 -> Blue Cable = 1000W

Heating circuit 2: Brown Cable #2 -> Blue Cable = 1000W

• The connecting cables have multi-stranded wires. Thus, use either suitable screw terminals,

or so-called wire end sleeves, to make the correct electrical contact.

• Mount the heating attachment in the housing intended for the installation, using a suitable bracket.

Caution, important!

The installation may only be carried out horizontally in order for the internal
temperature safeguard to trigger properly in case of error. If the installation is
carried out vertically the heating device can overheat and catch fire!

The same applies to the subsequent operation of the product!

Please make sure that the heating filaments are not bent. Otherwise, this may cause the
heating filaments to burn, which will damage the heating attachment. The warranty will be void!

• Place the connecting cables so they are not on, above or next to the heating filaments.

Secure the connecting cables in the housing in an appropriate fashion, e.g. with cable ties.
Use suitable heat-resistant sleeves to protect the cables.

• Bear in mind that for use with a tangential fan, cold air must be blown to the heating attach-

ment. This air is heated while flowing through the heating attachment and it must then be able
to escape from the housing at a suitable point (ideally, directly after the air has passed through
the heating attachment).

The heating attachment must not be mounted in the air inlet of the tangential
fan.

This will draw the hot air through the tangential fan, which will cause overheating and
damage of the tangential fan.

Therefore, always pay attention to the correct arrangement of the heating attach-
ment and tangential fan and the correct direction for the air flow, when designing and
assembling a fan heater.

The heating attachment must always be mounted in the air outlet of the tangential
fan!

• The opening of the housing’s air outlet must be provided with suitable heat-resistant protection

against accidental contact (risk of potentially fatal electric shock on contact with the heating
filaments in the heating attachment!).

• For future use, make sure the hot air flow is not directed at combustible or easily flammable

objects. Keep a sufficient distance!

Handling

• During use, the product gets very hot. Risk of burns! When the product is in use

and connected to the mains voltage, there is a risk of a potentially fatal electric
shock on contact.

• Only use in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is

a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!

• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a

warm one. The condensation that forms might destroy your unit. This might cause
a potentially fatal electric shock!

Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the power
supply and putting it in to use. This may take several hours.

• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an authorised repair

shop.

• Check the product for damage before each use!

If you detect any damage, DO NOT operate the product or connect it to the mains
supply.

It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:

- the product shows visible signs of damage,

- the product does not function or does not function properly (e.g. a burning smell)

- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions

• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor

pinched.

• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during trans-

portation:

- Damp or excess air humidity

- Extreme cold or heat

- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents

- Strong vibrations

Disposal

Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
