10.6.3 Passwords
The Passwords option configures the access passwords for the router. Access to
your router is controlled through three user accounts: root, support, and user.
•
root
has unrestricted access to change and view the configuration of your router.
It is the top administrative account.
•
support
is intended to allow limited access so that a technical support
representative can conduct maintenance and run diagnostics.
•
user
provides the least access control but allows for viewing configuration
settings and statistics, as well as, updating software.
Use the fields below to enter up to 16 characters and click Apply to change or create
passwords. See section
for default password settings.
10.7 Update Software
The Update Software screen allows you to update the software of the device.
Manual software upgrades from a locally stored file can be performed using the
following screen. Your ISP will provide this file to you, if necessary.
