2-4 DUTY CYCLE CURVES
FIGURE 2-1. VOLTS-AMPERES CURVES
The volt-amperes curves show the minimum and maximum v ol tage and amperage output capabilities of the welding
power source. Curves of other settings fall between the curves shown.
2-3. VOLTS-AMPERES CURVES
Duty cycle is a percentage of a 10-minute interval during
which the unit can weld at rated load without overheating.
With 220 VAC supply power, this unit can run at 40% duty
cycle when operated at 160 amperes, allowing 4 minutes of
each 10 minute period to be welded, with the next 6 minutes
resting.
With 120 VAC supply voltage, this unit can run at 40% duty
cycle when operated at 130 amps, allowing welding for 4
minutes out of every 10 minute period with a rest for the next
6 minutes.
When unit overheats, the output stops, the over-temperature
indicator light comes on and the cooling fan continues to run.
Wait 15 minutes for the unit to cool down. Reduce the
amperage or duty cycle before starting to weld again.
WARNING:
by welding beyond the specified duty cycle, may
damage the unit and void the warranty.
Exceeding duty cycle can damage unit and void warranty.
