Glossary–6 UltraSCSI RAID Enclosure
External cache battery. A device that provides backup power to a
cache module for sustaining memory retention.

EMC
Electromagnetic compatibility.
Electromagnetic interference. The impairment of a signal by an
electromagnetic disturbance.
Environmental monitoring unit. The device that monitors the status of
the UltraSCSI RAID enclosure to include power, intake air
temperature, blower status, and so forth, detects error and fault
conditions, displays these conditions, reports the conditions to the
user and the array controller, and, in some cases, implements
corrective actions.
Any connector that is physically part of an enclosure (for example,
pedestal, deskside enclosure, cabinet, and so forth).

Electrostatic discharge. The discharge of a potentially harmful static
electric voltage as a result of improper grounding.
