ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDAL
The accelerator/brake pedal moves the vehicle when the toe portion of the pedal is depressed.
When the pedal is in the upright position, the spring applied brake system is engaged.
With the direction selector in the desired direction of travel, depress the pedal slowly until the
appropriate speed is reached.
Reducing pressure on the pedal slows the vehicle. Release the accelerator/brake pedal slowly
and completely to stop the vehicle. Rapid release of the pedal will stop the vehicle abruptly.
To avoid injury, speed in reverse should always be kept at a minimum.
Be sure the direction selector is in the desired direction of travel before depressing the
accelerator pedal.
This vehicle is equipped with a dual braking system.
When the accelerator pedal is in the raised position, the service spring applied
mechanical brake system will activate the brake shoes on the axle assembly. This
function operates regardless of power application.
When power is applied, the vehicle controller will also function in the regenerative
braking mode. This function operates when the accelerator is in the raised position
and the unit is travelling forward or reverse. This function does NOT operate with
power turned off.
In the event of a runaway condition, leave power applied and lift left foot from
accelerator pedal.
