8-Point Digital Compass

Your microTALK

®

radio features an 8-point

digital compass.

Because the surrounding terrain
can affect compass accuracy, it is
recommended that you calibrate
the compass before each use. It is
important to keep the radio parallel
to the ground at all times while
calibrating and using the compass.

To Calibrate the Compass:
1. Press and hold the Compass button for two

(2) seconds. The Compass icon and “CALIbr”
will appear in the display.

2. Hold the radio in front of you, parallel to the

ground, and turn around in a circle at least
two (2) times (or you may place the radio
on the palm of one of your hands, parallel
to the ground, and turn it in a circle at least
two (2) times with your other hand).

3. Press the Compass button again.
4.  a. If compass calibration was successful,

“SUCCES” will appear in the display for
one (1) second, then the radio will
automatically return to Compass Mode.

b. If “FAIL” appears in the LCD, repeat steps

1 through 3. (If you receive repeated “FAIL”
messages, change locations and repeat
steps 1 through 3.)
