21. IGNITION SAFETY SWITCH
Your Cobalt boat is equipped with an ignition
safety switch located on the lower lip of the helm.
The ignition safety switch and lanyard will stop
the engine in case of an emergency. Attach the
lanyard to the boat operator whenever the engine

operator is thrown from the seat or moves too far
from the helm, the lanyard will become
disconnected from the ignition safety switch,
shutting off the engine.

the steering wheel angle to a comfortable operating
position when the boat is not moving.
23. ENGINE ON/OFF SWITCH -
Refer to the
engine operator’s manual in your owner’s packet for

NOTICE: Do not shift too quickly
from forward to reverse.
Damage to the engines and
transmissions can result. When
shifting from forward to reverse,
pause in neutral until the
engines are at idle speed and
the boat has slowed. Your
Cobalt boat is equipped with a
safety switch for “start-in
neutral-only.”
A
WARNING
Avoid injury, death or damage to
equipment. Do not allow your boat to be
operated without the proper use of the
ignition safety switch and lanyard.
