Art.no  36-8124  Model  UT22B-EU

Please read the entire instruction manual before using the product and then
save it for future reference. We reserve the right for any errors in text or images
and any necessary changes made to technical data. If you have any questions
concerning technical problems please contact our Customer Services.

Safety

First read the entire instruction manual and make sure that you have understood
all the information regarding safety and maintenance in order to be able to
use the voltage tester in a safe way.

Warning:

•  To avoid electric shocks, pay special attention when the measured voltage

exceeds the safe working voltage threshold (36 V).

•  Do not measure voltages over 400 V. The Hazardous Voltage indicator

will turn on when the measured voltage exceeds 50 V and flash when
the voltage exceeds the potentially lethal voltage threshold of 400 V.

•  The voltage tester should not be connected to a voltage source for more

than 5 seconds at a time.

•  The function of the voltage tester should be checked on a known voltage

source before measuring is commenced.

•  Only grip the test probes by the handles. Never touch the electrodes (tips)

of the text probes.

•  The voltage tester must only be used on circuits within the specified

measuring range (400 V).

•  Do not use the voltage tester if it is in any way damaged or malfunctioning.
•  Do not use the voltage tester in a wet or humid environment. Accurate

readings can only be guaranteed within the temperature and humidity
ranges specified in the

Specifications

 section below.

•  Safety can no longer be guaranteed if the voltage tester does not display

reliable readings.

•  When using the voltage tester, only touch the gripping surfaces of the test

probes, never touch the metal tips.

Product description

The UT22B-EU is an automatic voltage tester capable of
testing AC/DC voltages from 12 V to 400 V. It is designed
to be suitable for use by professional electricians and
homeowners alike. Typical applications of the voltage
tester include testing the voltage of a car battery
(direct current) and testing the voltage of a wall socket
(alternating current).
1.  Negative test electrode (−)
2.  Positive test electrode (+)
3.  High and hazardous voltage indicator (> 50 V)
4.  Voltage level indicators
5.  AC/DC voltage indicators

If the positive indicator comes on, the positive test probe (+) is connected to
the positive terminal of the object under test.
If the negative indicator comes on, the negative test probe (−) is connected to
the negative terminal of the object under test.

Note:

If the voltage under test is less than 10 V, the tester may not detect it.

Care and maintenance

•  In the event of abnormal operation or malfunction, stop using the voltage

tester immediately and contact your retailer.

•  Repairs must only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
•  Clean the voltage tester by wiping it with a clean, dry cloth.
•  Store the voltage tester in a dry and clean place out of children’s reach.
•  Make sure that the voltage tester is dry before using it.

Responsible disposal

This symbol indicates that the product should not be disposed
of with general household waste. This applies throughout
the entire EU. In order to prevent any harm to the environment
or health hazards caused by incorrect waste disposal,
the product must be handed in for recycling so that the material
can be disposed of in a responsible manner. When recycling
your product, take it to your local collection facility or contact
the place of purchase. They will ensure that the product is disposed of in
an environmentally sound manner.

Instructions for use

The function of the voltage tester should be checked on a known voltage
source before measuring is commenced.
•  To test the DC voltage measurement function: use a battery with a known

voltage, such as a car battery.

•  To test the AC voltage measurement function: use a known voltage, such

as a 230 V wall socket.

Note:

Do not use the voltage tester if it is not functioning properly.

Measuring AC voltage

Touch the tips of the test probes against the object under test.
For AC voltages over 12 V both the positive (plus sign) and negative (minus
sign) indicators will light. The AC/DC voltage indicators come on in stages
depending on the magnitude of the voltage.

Measuring DC voltage

Touch the tips of the test probes against the object under test.
For DC voltage over 12 V either the positive or negative indicator will turn on
depending on the polarity. The AC/DC voltage indicators come on in stages
depending on the magnitude of the voltage.

Features

•  Measures alternating current and direct current from

12 V to 400 V.

•  Automatic identification of AC/DC voltage
•  Automatic identification of DC voltage polarity
•  Hazardous voltage indicator
•  Complies with the following standards:

RoHS, CE, and

CAT III 400 V

•  Has an ingress protection rating of IP54. Harmful amounts

of dust and water can not enter the voltage tester and
cause insulation faults.
