5. Troubleshooting
Always start with the simplest action:
1. Have you put the telephone plug in the telephone jack?
2. Have you connected the cable in a correct manner to ”LINE” on the
modem?
3. Does the telephone work? Connect the telephone; do you have a
dialling tone?
4. Have you entered the correct username and password? (username
does not have to be your name or mail address)
5. Do you perhaps need to dial an extra digit to pass the telephone
switchboard?
6. You may try to switch places; put the modem in a different
expansion slot, if nothing else helps.
7. Go to
Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager
and right
click on
Modem
; choose
Properties
, where information about the
function of the modem is found under different tabs.
8. Sometimes a reboot can work miracles in correcting errors!
