EZ-8 TROUBLE SHOOTING 

 

SYMPTOM 

CAUSE 

REPAIR 

Motor will not start. 

 

 

No power. 

 

Defective switch and/or contactor.  

 

Defective start capacitor.  

 

Poor connections. 

 

Motor overload tripped. 

 

 

Defective motor.  

Check power supply and connections.  

 

Replace switch and/or contactor.  

 

 

Replace start capacitor.   

 

Check connections.   

 

Remove power. Depress reset button on motor.   

 

Replace motor.   

Motor runs sluggishly. 

 

Low voltage from excessive length, 

undersize extension cord, or poor 

connection. 

 

Defective run capacitor.  

 

Defective motor. 

Locate power source nearer to work site.  Check 

connections.  

 

 

Replace capacitor.  

 

Replace motor.  

 

Motor labors and overload 

trips/repeatedly 

 Low voltage from excessive length, 

undersize extension cord, or poor 

connection. 

 

 

 

Excessive load. 

 

 

Defective motor.  

 

Defective capacitors 

Remove power and allow motor to cool. 

Depress reset button on motor. 

Locate power source nearer to worksheet.  Check 

connections   

 

Do not force handle down. 

 

 

Replace motor.  

 

Replace capacitors. 

Drive belts jump teeth or squeak. 

 

Damaged belt.  

 

Worn Pulley.  

 

Improper belt alignment 

 

Replace belt.   

 

Replace Pulley.   

 

Align Pulley.   

Squealing, growling or grinding 

noise coming from machine.  

 

Damage and/or worn bearings 

 Remove drives belts.  

Rotate motor, fan and drum shaft to locate dragging 

or rough bearing.  Replace bad bearing 

Uneven cut. 

Leveling out of adjustment. 

 

Wheels worn or debris on them. 

 

Worn or Bad drum  

 

Readjust leveling.  

 

Replace or clean wheels. 

 

Replace drum.
