General Function Explanation Con’t
Infrasonic Filter Frequency Control
This adjustment allows the use to alter the -3dB frequency of the infrasonic filter. In some
applications, it is desirable to limit the amount of low frequency information the amplifier
is producing because it may over-drive a subwoofer installed in a vented enclosure. The
infrasonic filter control is adjustable from 10Hz to 50Hz and reduces the amount of audio
information produced below the selected frequency.
Phase Control
This analog control allows you to alter the relative phase of the output of the amp with
respect to the input signal. This is used to allow the installer to ensure that the output of
the subwoofer system blends seamlessly with the midbass/midrange drivers being used
in the system. To adjust, turn the control until your system produces maximum acoustical
output at the crossover point.
Bass EQ Control
This control allows you to add up to 12dB of boost, centered at 45Hz to the audio signal.
This will add impact and depth to the sound of your system. Be judicious with this control,
as it can dramatically increase the current requirements of your amplifier, drive the
amplifier into clipping and may cause damage to your subwoofer(s).
Speaker Output Terminals
The two positive and two negative speaker output terminals are paralleled internally to
simplify the connection of multiple subwoofers.

Speaker Connections
The XC6140 amplifier is capable of driving reactive loads with a minimum nominal
impedance of 2 Ohms. Clarion recommends the use of at least 12 AWG wire to connect
your subwoofer(s).
