6.1.10 Cab

Safety structure of the cab

The cabs of CLAAS tractors were submitted to the official
tests of the O.E.C.D. and the European Community.
Following these tests, the cabs on CLAAS tractors have
been certified "ROPS" (Roll Over Protective Structure).
Through this certification, the cabs of CLAAS tractors have
demonstrated their ability to reduce the risk of crushing the
driver if the tractor tips over during normal use. To obtain
this result, it is essential that the driver is already in the
seated position with the seat belt fastened.

In these conditions CLAAS waives any liability for any
accident (impact or tractor tipped over) likely to subject the
cab to stress exceeding the test loads.

A cab which would be damaged (warped) in an accident
must not be repaired, but changed.

If devices or functions not planned as standard or as
options are to be adapted, consult an approved CLAAS
distributor. Indeed, you may not bore, weld, or cut cab
elements, as these interventions alter the cab, which is no
longer compliant with its homologation.

The cabs on CLAAS tractors can be equipped with a FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure) as an option. If the
cab is not equipped with a FOPS, this is indicated by a safety sticker in the cab (Refer to the description of the
cab's non-FOPS roof safety sticker in this section).

The falling object protective structures integrated in the cabs of CLAAS tractors have been tested in accordance
with OECD EC methods. Through these tests, the protective structures integrated
in FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure) cabs have demonstrated their ability to offer drivers sufficient
protection against falling objects when the tractor is being used for traditional agricultural work. Tractors to be used
in the European Community must, if using a front loader, be equipped with a protective structure
(FOPS - Falling Object Protective Structure) which protects the driver from falling objects. Tractors bearing a safety
sticker indicating that the cab has not been tested using the OECD method must never be fitted or used with a front
loader.

Some tractor applications, such as forest applications requiring specific equipment may require a falling object
protective structure certified for a higher energy level.

Protection against polluted environments

-

Do not place containers containing or having contained hazardous products inside the cab.

-

Remove contaminated shoes and clothing before entering the cab.

-

Clean inside the cab regularly.

-

Check that the cab filters are in good condition and installed properly. Check that the seals on the cab filters are
in good condition and serviceable.

-

Replace the filters if holed or damaged.

-

Use optimum cab ventilation and air recirculation to preserve the air quality in the cab.

-

To install a control box in the cab, optimise the cable routing through the bulkhead connector to ensure that the
installation is sealed and to prevent polluted air from entering the cab.
