2.2.3 Sensor Mechanism
(1) Paper Sensor
The paper sensor detects the presence/absence of paper
in front of the thermal head. Activation of the thermal
head when paper is not inserted could cause damage or shorten
the life of the head significantly. This sensor is used
to prevent such trouble and for detection of the
presence/absence of paper in the automatic
loading mode.
(The paper sensor is built in the thermal head.)
(2) Paper Near-End Sensor
The paper near-end sensor detects that the remaining paper is low.
The reduced outside diameter of the paper roll (corresponding to approximately 50 cm to 2 m in length of
normal paper) is detected by a sensor provided on the chassis near one end of the paper roll.
The remainder of paper differs depending on paper thickness and core material.
This remainder can not be adjusted.
