This document provides hardware installation instructions for the Cisco MXE 3000. It also includes
information about completing initial configuration and obtaining licenses. Once the initial
configuration is complete, you will be able to access the administrative web user interface (UI) to
install licenses, as described in the
Deployment Guide for the Cisco Media Experience Engine 3000
on
Cisco.com.

Site Requirements
Select and prepare an installation site that meets the requirements that are described in the
Hardware
Installation Guide for Cisco Media Experience Engine 3000
on Cisco.com.
Shipping Carton Contents
Verify the contents of the shipping carton to ensure that you have all items necessary to install the
Cisco MXE 3000.
Save the packing material in case you need to repack the unit. If any item is missing or damaged,
contact your Cisco representative or reseller for instructions.
The contents of the shipping carton include the following items:

4-post rail kit
•
RJ-45 cable (crossover)
•
RJ-45 cable (rolled)
•
RJ-45 cable (straight-through)
•
RJ-45-to-DB-9 adapter cable
•
Cisco MXE 3000
•
Power cord
