How to set up the DHCP server on your
router
Your router can be used as a
DHCP
(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)
server to automatically assign an IP address to each computer or device on
your network The DHCP server is enabled by default If you already have a
DHCP server on your network, or if you do not want to use your router as a
DHCP server, you should disable this setting
To configure your router’s DHCP server settings:
Setup > Basic Setup > DHCP Server Settings

Basic Setup

Review the
DHCP Server Setting
fields (in the middle of the screen) You
can:

Enable or disable the DHCP server
•
Change the starting address for the DHCP server

Change the number of users (253 maximum)

How to set up DHCP reservation
Why would I use it?
DHCP reservation
allows you to assign a unique, fixed IP
address to a specific device on your network Assigning a fixed IP address is
a good way to manage devices such as print servers, web cameras, network
printers, and game consoles A fixed IP address is also recommended if you
want to use port forwarding for devices that need to receive inbound traffic
from the Internet (“How to set up port forwarding” on page 57)
To configure DHCP reservation:
Setup > Basic Setup > DHCP Reservation

next to the client you want to create a DHCP reservation for

The client you selected is added to the

You can also manually enter a client name, IP address, and MAC address
of a device to create a DHCP reservation
