The
Gigabit
Ethernet
switch
module
contains
one
software
operating-system
image.
Upgrading
the
Gigabit
Ethernet
switch
module
software
The
Gigabit
Ethernet
switch-module
software
is
upgraded
through
a
TFTP
server
application.
Typically,
this
software
runs
as
an
application
under
your
operating
system.
Make
sure
that
this
software
is
installed
on
your
server;
then,
download
the
software
images
from
the
IBM
Web
site
into
a
directory
on
your
TFTP
server.
Enable
the
TFTP
server
and
set
its
default
directory
to
the
one
where
the
image
is.
To
transfer
the
software
image
files
from
the
TFTP
server
to
the
switch,
you
must
establish
a
Telnet
session
through
the
management
module.
To
make
sure
that
you
have
a
connection,
you
must
ping
the
TFTP
server.
The
Telnet
session
performs
optimally
if
all
three
network
entities
(TFTP
server,
management
module,
and
switch
IP
addresses)
are
on
the
same
subnet.
Otherwise,
you
must
use
a
router.
Use
the
management-module
interface
to
configure
the
IP
addresses
of
the
management
module
external
interface
(eth0)
and
the
Gigabit
Ethernet
switch
module
so
that
they
are
both
on
the
same
subnet
as
the
TFTP
server.

IP
addresses
and
masks
used
are
described
in
the
following
table.
