Unit
numbers
are
assigned
by
the
system
to
each
interface
port
to
allow
the router
to
distinguish
between
interfaces
of the
same
type
separate
sequence
of
unit
numbers
increment
from
zero
for
each
interface
type
starting
with
the
interfaces
on
the

then
continuing
the
sequences
with
the
interfaces

If
network

module
has
two
interfaces
of
the
same
type
the port closest
to
the handle
on
the router
when
installed
in
the
router
is
assigned
the lowest
available
number
with
the
remaining
port
receiving
the next
unit
number
Note
If the
router
locates
Token
Ring
adapter
card
in
an
adjacent
slot in
the
hub
it
will
assign
the
backplane
Token

unit
number
and
the

found
on
network
processor
module
will
receive
