Software Requirement for ISMs
Cisco IOS software of a specified release or later release is required for using an ISM.
To determine the version of Cisco IOS software that is running on your router, log in to the router and
enter the
show version
command:
Router>
show version
Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
2900 Software (C2900-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version 12.3(8.2)T, INTERIM SOFTWARE
ISM Location

for the location of the ISM.
Removing an ISM
Before you remove an ISM, remove the chassis cover as described in the
“Opening and Closing the
Chassis” section on page 5
.
To remove an ISM, perform the following procedure. To complete this procedure, you need a number 2
Phillips screwdriver or flat-blade screwdriver.
Step 1
Locate the ISM to be removed. See the
“Locating Modules” section on page 7
for the location of the
ISM.
Step 2
Remove the four screws from the ISM as shown in
Figure 7
.

Step 3
Carefully lift the ISM from the connector and the standoff. Keep the ISM parallel with the system board
to prevent damage to the connector and standoff.
Step 4
Place the ISM in an antistatic bag to protect it from ESD damage.
