ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AT THE FAN
1.
SINGLE PHASE
When a 115 Volt accessory is to be
used with the Axial Fan a 4-wire
system should be provided for fans to
be operated on single phase power.
The four wires consist of the two
current carrying conductors, a
grounded neutral, and a ground.
When any 115 Volt accessory
equipment will not be used a 3-wire
system can be used. In this case the
grounded neutral wire is not required.
The current carrying conductors are
connected securely to terminals L1
and L2 of the contactor as illustrated
in
Figure 9
. The contactor is located
in the control enclosure. The ground
wire is secured to the terminal in the
control enclosure labeled “G”.
2.
THREE PHASE
When a 115 Volt accessory is to be
used with the Axial Fan a 5 wire
system should be provided for fans to
be operated on three phase 230Volt
power. The five wires consist of three
current carrying conductors, a
grounded neutral and a ground. A 4-
wire system should be provided for
fans to be operated on 460 Volt or
575 Volt three phase power or when
any 115 Volt accessory equipment will
not be used. The four wires consist of
three current carrying conductors and
a ground. The current carrying
conductors are connected securely to
terminals L1, L2, and L3 of the
contactor as illustrated in
Figure 10
.
The contactor is located in the control
enclosure. The grounded neutral for
230 Volt systems is required for
application of any 115 Volt
accessories. The ground wire is
secured to the terminal in the control enclosure labeled “G”.
