Installation instructions
All legal regulations on the use of the exit device on fire-rated and/or
smoke-stop doors remain fully applicable.
• The operation of electric door openers in combination with locks with
antithrust latch is not permitted.
Before installing an emergency exit device in a
door for use on an escape route, the door should
be examined to make sure that it is properly fas-
tened and is not warped. The door manufacturer
determines which fastening is suitable for the
types of door for which the emergency exit device
is designed.
Different fasteners may be required for fastening emergency exit devices
on wooden, metal or glass doors. For a more reliable fastening, bolted
joints, through reinforcements and through rivets may be used.
Installing emergency exit devices e.g. in hollow core doors for use on
escape routes is not recommended unless they have been specially de-
signed by the manufacturer for that type of doors.
Before installing an emergency exit device in a fire-rated or smoke-stop
door, the certification of the fire-rated door on which the emergency exit
device was tested should be verified to ensure that the emergency exit
device is suitable for the specific door.
In case of two-leaf doors with rebated middle joint where both leaves
are provided with emergency exit devices, it is important to verify that
each leaf opens when its emergency exit device is operated and that
both leaves open freely when both emergency exit devices are operated.
For such applications, the use of a carry bar for moving the active leaf
may be required.
