Operation

1.

Place the item being held between the jaws of the vise. Using the Handle, turn

the Main Screw clockwise until the workpiece is held in the vise. Do not
overtighten, as you may crush, mark or damage the workpiece.

2.

To remove items from the Vise, turn the Handle counterclockwise. Be sure to

support the workpiece, so it does not fall as the Jaws release.

As shipped, this Vise is ideal for holding items which have parallel flat

surfaces, and which will not be damaged by the steel jaws of the Vise. By
installing optional faces (not included) to the Vise, rounded objects and softer
objects, such as wood items may be held.

Installing an optional face:

1.

A “face” or “pad” is a surface attached to the inside of the Vise Jaws to enable

the Vise to hold rounded objects or to prevent damage to softer objects.

2.

Faces for rounded objects should have a groove cut in them which will align

when mounted in the Vise. The round object may be held in this groove.

3.

Faces for soft objects ( also called “soft jaws”) should be approximately equal

in hardness to the work material. For example, a wood face is suitable for
holding wood workpieces.

4.

Each of the Vise Jaws has mounting holes drilled 4-1/16” apart, and are 5/32”

in diameter.

5.

Drill holes in the optional faces which will align with the holes in the Vice

Jaws. Countersink these holes so the head of the bolt will not protrude above
the surface of the face.

6.

Pass a suitable flathead machine screw through each of the holes in the faces

and secure to the Jaws using a washer and nut (fasteners not included).
Tighten securely. Optional faces may be installed or removed as needed.

Maintenance

1.

Do not beat on the Vise. Do not apply excessive pressure through bending or

twisting, as damage to the workpiece or Vise may result.

2.

Periodically clean the Main Screw and Clamp Screw threads to remove dust

and debris.

3.

Occasionally lubricate the screw threads using paraffin or wax. This can be

easily done by rubbing them with a candle or piece of canning wax. Oil based
lubricants will attract dirt and may interfere with the action of the screw.
