THE MOUNT
The AstroMaster LT 80AZ tripod and mount come fully assembled, so setting it up is easy:
1. Loosen the knobs at the bottom of each leg and extend the inner section of the leg to the desired length. Tighten the
knobs to secure the legs, being careful not to over tighten.
2. Stand the tripod upright and pull the tripod legs apart until the center brace snaps into place.
3. Place the accessory tray on the brace so the hole in the tray lines up with the raised section in the center of the
brace. Rotate the tray until the three tabs snap into the locks on center brace.
THE TELESCOPE TUBE
To attach the telescope tube to your tripod and mount:
1. Twist the panning handle counter clockwise to allow the
mount to move up and down easily. Make sure the top of the
mount is level with the ground, and twist the panning handle
clockwise to secure.
2. Loosen the retaining knob on the top of the mount and slide
the dovetail bar on the bottom of the telescope tube into the
clamp. Re-tighten the knob to secure the tube.
THE STAR DIAGONAL
The star diagonal attaches to the focuser at the rear of the telescope. It contains a small mirror which refl ects the light at
a 90° angle, providing a more comfortable viewing position.
To insert the diagonal:
1. Remove the caps from both ends of the diagonal.
2. Loosen the thumb screws on the end of the focuser and pull
out the small dust cap.
3. Insert the diagonal into the end of the focuser and secure it by
tightening the thumb screws. You can rotate the diagonal to any
position by loosening the thumb screws.
