RSA-80A Installation and Operation

 

 

2.0 Opening/Closing the Breaker 

 

Step 1

: Open the RSO-IIID lid by disengaging the two latches on the front of the case, this will 

expose the user interface panel and the cord storage area.  

  

 

 

     

Step 2

: Remove the three pin twist-lock style cable from the RSO-IIID cord storage area and 

connect the cable to the corresponding plug on the RSA-80A. 
 

ATTENTION! 

Please ensure that all cables are clear of moving parts.  Failure to do so could damage 

cables and/or actuator. 

 

Step 3: 

Verify the unit is properly installed on the switchgear and connected to the RSO-IIID as 

previously described. 

 

Step 4:

 Turn the switch on the RSA-80A motor control box to the corresponding operation to be 

performed (Either Close or Trip). 

 
Step 5

: Turn the power switch on the RSO-IIID to the “ON” position and input the settings based 

on the placard on the RSA-80A based on the corresponding operation to be performed.  Exit the 
arc flash boundary. 

 

ATTENTION 

Please ensure that either the batteries on the unit are fully charged or the unit is plugged 

into AC power. 

 

Step 6

: If equipped with the wireless remote option, ensure users turn the green activation 

switch past the “ON” indication to the “START” indication in the window of the activation 

switch. 

 

Step 7: 

Press the “CHARGE/CLOSE” button to operated the RSA-80A in the applicable CLOSE or 

TRIP direction.  NOTE: Pressing the “TRIP” button will yield no operation on the RSA.  Users 
must press the “CHARGE/CLOSE” button to operate even in the “TRIP” direction.  Users choose 
the operation to be performed on the selector switch on the RSA-80A motor control box prior 
to operation.
