G. Wear Ring Replacement
To replace wear rings, proceed as follows:
1. Remove old wear ring from suction
case, insterstage case and/or diffuser.
This can best be accomplished on a
lathe.
2. Press new wear ring in suction case,
interstage case and/or diffuser.
3. Place impeller on an arbor and mount
between centers in a lathe. Indicate
back of impeller hub to within 0.002 inch
TIR maximum to make sure arbor and
impeller are running square.
4. Turn wearing surface of impeller until a
63 Root Means Square (RMS) or better
finish is obtained.
5. Measure outside diameter of impeller
hub and record.
6. Mount suction case, interstage case
and/or diffuser in a lathe, with wear ring
inserted. Indicate male rabbet to within
0.002 inch TIR maximum.
7. Bore wear ring to within the specified
tolerance listed in Table 13 or Table 14
over the recorded size of outside
diameters of impeller hub.
8. Return impeller and casings to pump
assembly.
