Staged Air Volume (SAV™) with Variable Fre
-
quency Drive
The Staged Air Volume (SAV) system utilizes a Variable Frequen
-
cy Drive (VFD) to automatically adjust the indoor fan motor
speed in sequence with the unit’s ventilation, cooling and heating
operation. Per ASHRAE 90.1-2016 standard, during the first stage
of cooling operation the SAV system will adjust the fan motor to
provide 66% of the design airflow rate for the unit. When the call
for the second stage of cooling is required, the SAV system will al
-
low the design airflow rate for the unit established (100%). During
the heating mode, the SAV system will allow total design airflow
rate (100%) operation. During ventilation mode, the SAV system
will operate the fan motor at 66% speed. Figure 78 shows the Vari
-
able Frequency Drive. See Fig. 79 for the VFD location.

MULTI-SPEED VFD DISPLAY KIT (FIELD-INSTALLED
ACCESSORY)
NOTE: The Remote VFD Keypad is part of the Multi-Speed VFD
display kit (P/N: CRDISKIT002A00), which is a field-installed
accessory. It is not included with the 50LC size 14-26 base units.
The VFD keypad as shown in Fig. 80 consists of the following
sections:
Alphanumeric Display
The LCD display is backlit with 2 alphanumeric lines. All data is
displayed on the LCD (see Fig. 81).
Menu Key
Use the Menu key to select between Status, Quick Menu or Main
Menu. The triangle icon at the bottom of the LCD display indi
-
cates the currently selected mode (see number 5 in Fig. 81).
Navigation Keys and Status LEDs
The Navigation keys and Status LEDs are detailed in Fig. 82.
Operation Keys and LEDs
Figure 83 details the functions of the Operating keys. An illumi
-
nated yellow LED above the key indicates the active key.
