8 FiX1 web application – introduction
All the software required for basic control of a FiX1 is contained on the unit itself in the form of a web application.
This application is accessible via a web browser. Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari are all fully supported. No other
software is required to operate the FiX1 system.
Access the FiX1 web application by entering the IP address of the unit in a web browser.
If the FiX1 is on a company network then any device on that network can have access to the unit.
Additional functionality and management capabilities for multiple FiX1 installations are available in
Site Ops
which
is a cloud-based software.
8.1 Remote updates and support
The web application software is being constantly updated with improvements and new features. Updates to this
software can be remotely distributed from Carlson to any FiX1 on a network connected to the world wide web. If a
FIX1 unit is on a network which has access to the internet, then the FiX1 can be configured to automatically receive
regular updates whenever they become available.
The FiX1 checks daily for software and firmware and downloads any new version when available.
Software updates are then installed automatically.
If firmware updates have been downloaded, the FiX1 must be rebooted to allow the firmware update to take place.
A regular, automatic reboot can be arranged in the
Schedule
page to ensure the process is fully automatic.
Options are available to turn off automatic updates and to allow beta versions to be installed. See section 7.5.2.
8.2 User access
User can log into a FiX1 as a user or as an administrator. An administrator has full control over all aspects of the
FiX1 setup and configuration. A user has access to standard day-to-day functionality. It is recommended that most
workers accessing a FiX1 should be restricted to user access to reduce the chances for conflict and accidental
changes to a system.
8.2.1 Admin access
