28 Chapter 5 Getting Started
Important Scanning Procedures—Restoration Acquisition
Scanning One Surface at a Time
•
Start with the occlusal surface, beginning with the preparation area and then scanning the
surrounding teeth on the jaw.
•
Next, scan the lingual surface, starting with the preparation area and then scanning the
surrounding teeth on the jaw.
•
Scan the buccal surface, starting with the preparation area and then scanning the surrounding
teeth on the jaw.
•
Finally, acquire the buccal bite registration.
Scanning Each Tooth Individually
•
Scan one tooth at a time, following the occlusal/lingual/buccal, buccal/occlusal/lingual, or
lingual/occlusal/buccal scan path.
•
Once the entire tooth is scanned, move to the next tooth and repeat the scanning process
until you have scanned all the teeth in the preparation area, as well as the surrounding teeth on
the jaw.
•
Finally, acquire the buccal bite registration.
