1.  Tips for obtaining the best brew:

• Always use fresh high-quality coffee, preferably ground right before

brewing.

• Use “espresso grind” coffee for pump espresso machines which is finely

ground with a similar texture to fine sugar.

• Store your coffee in a dark, airtight container and leave it in a cool place

(cabinet or pantry). Do not store coffee in the refrigerator. Only store

unopened bags of whole coffee beans in the freezer and defrost before

grinding.

• Always brew espresso into a pre-warmed cup. This can be done by leaving

the cup on the warming platform or running hot water into the cup before

brewing.

• Always purge the brew head and frothing wand to ensure hottest

performance. See chapter 4.

• For best flavor, drink the espresso immediately after it is made.

• Follow all cleaning, maintenance and decalcifying instructions.

2.  Control Panel

a.  The “ON/OFF” button on the front of the machine turns the machine on and off.

When the “ON/OFF” button is pressed, the machine will turn “ON” and the

indicator light around the “ON/OFF” button will illuminate red while the “Coffee/

Steam” indicator will flash blue, signifying that the machine is warming up the

boiler.

b.  The Coffee/Steam button on the front of the machine switches the function from

coffee brewing to steaming/frothing. When the machine is turned ON, the Coffee/

Steam indicator light will flash blue while the machine is heating up. Once the

indicator light stops flashing and is solid blue, the machine is ready for brewing

coffee. To switch the machine to steam, press the Coffee/Steam button again and

the indicator light will turn white and start flashing. Once the indicator light is solid

white, the machine is ready for frothing/steaming milk.

c. The SELECTOR DIAL has three positions:

• LEFT (     ) brewing coffee,

• CENTER (    ) standby, brewing and steaming stops,

• RIGHT (    ) steam production through the frothing wand

NOTE: Do not turn the selector dial to steam when the coffee indicator light is

illuminated in blue.  Do not turn the selector dial to coffee when in the steam

indicator light is illuminated in white.
