VIII. Service
Requirements
A. Authorization
Policy
To become authorized and maintain authorization to service the
imageRUNNER 2200/2800, each Authorized Reseller’s location must
have at least one employee who has successfully completed the
imageRUNNER 2200/2800/3300 Training Program and received certified
status.
For a Canon U.S.A. copier dealership, a System Engineer

(SE) working
with Canon connectivity products should have the following basic job
functions:
•
Systems integration (pre-sale and post-sale)
•
Installation
•
Education of customers and dealership personnel
•
Troubleshooting
In order to successfully perform these tasks, it is crucial that the SE have
strong computer skills and a working knowledge in the following areas
(listed in order of importance):
•
The major computer platforms (IBM™ compatible and Macintosh™)
•
Computer hardware (including cabling)
•
Computer software (including drivers)
•
Operating systems (DOS, Windows 95/98, Mac OS™ System 7, 8, & 9)
•
Network Operating Systems:
o
Novell (3.x, 4.x, & 5.x)
o
Windows NT™ & 2000™
•
Protocols:
o
IPX/SPX
o
TCP/IP
•
Printing
•
Scanning
In addition, computer skills and a working knowledge in the following
areas may also be helpful:
•
Other computer platforms (mainframe and UNIX™)
•
Networking (TokenRing)
•
Basic electronics
Possible backgrounds, (listed in preferred order), of a successful Canon
U.S.A. dealership SE are:
•
Novell CNA
SM
or Novell CNE
SM
/ Microsoft MCSE™ certification.
•
Canon U.S.A. copier service technician with two years of experience
centered on connectivity products.
A degree in computer science, engineering, or a computer technician with
two years of experience is required in the above areas.
