Troubleshooting

Startup diagnostics are described in the documentation for service technicians. Contact your authorized service/

support center if you see startup error messages on Command WorkStation or if the imagePRESS Server does not

reach the Idle state.

Sleep mode on the printer

If the printer is idle for a period of time, it may enter sleep mode, which can affect imagePRESS Server functions and

may cause outdated information to display in Command WorkStation and WebTools.

Events that cause the printer to exit Sleep mode

The printer exits Sleep mode in these circumstances:

•

A new entry is made in Paper Catalog

•

Processes that require the printer are started, such as when a print job is sent

Note: 

Using Command WorkStation does not restart the printer from sleep mode.

Information that becomes outdated while the printer is in Sleep mode

When the printer is in Sleep mode, current information is not available for some items. The information displayed

for the following items is the information available immediately before the printer went into Sleep mode:

•

Media type information in Paper Catalog

•

Consumable information

•

Name of the Professional Puncher die

Job error reports

If errors occur when the imagePRESS Server is processing or printing jobs, you can submit a job error report to

Technical Support.
The job error report captures important information for Technical Support to troubleshoot and resolve issues such

as job errors, system failures, and unexpected print output.
When you create a job error report, Command WorkStation collects job files, logs, and information about the

imagePRESS Server, and saves them to a zip file. Before sending the zip file to Technical Support, you can remove

any files contained in the zip file for security purposes.

Note: 

Print jobs do not need to be in an error state for generating job error reports. You can create a job error report

for any jobs in the Held or Printed queues.
