Slipping media during calibration
Introduction
When you are calibrating a smoother or weaker media, the media can start to slip on the platen
resulting in an inaccurate calibration. Misalignment observed on the calibration prints can
indicate the problem. Follow the procedure below to improve media transportation during the
calibration process. You can stop at any time in the procedure when the problem is solved.
Procedure
1.
Remove the media from the paper path.
Remove media from the paper path on page 333
.
2.
Make sure the printer platen is clean.
.
3.
Decrease the [Vacuum power] settings in the RIP:
1.
First, define an additional leading strip of 40 cm. Then, decrease the vacuum power with steps
of 10% until a minimum value of 30% for zones D and E.
2.
If this is not sufficient decrease the vacuum power with steps of 10% until a minimum value
of 30% for zones B and C.
Do no decrease the vacuum power of zone A.
NOTE
When you decrease the [Vacuum power] too much, media can come loose from the
printer platen resulting in media touches as well.
4.
Reload and perform media calibration.
Calibrate the media on page 113
.
5.
Observe the calibration prints before you decrease the vacuum power again.
For each step you decrease and have changed the setting: reload and calibrate the media again.
6.
When the problem remains, use tight winding for this media.
Print and wind with a tension bar
