Your Fantail 217 Electric Boat has been designed to provide you with years of trouble-free service if you perform some basic maintenance.
7.1 HULL
The hull of you electric boat is constructed of gel coated fiberglass, which generally requires similar maintenance as an automobile body.
That is to say a waxing from time to time is all that is required in order to keep your electric boat looking good.
7.2
CLASSIC DECK AND COCKPIT BELT (Classic edition)
To maintain a classic finish on mahogany or fiber glass for rental edition. Make sure the wood does not become dry or grey. If the wood is
damaged, sand the affected area with fine sandpaper (280 grit dry) before oiling it with a marine grade teck and tung oil such as Circa 1850.
Then apply a special wax for furnitures such as Antiquax wax polish The wood will be restored to its natural color.
7.3
BATTERIES AND MOTOR
Have your motor checked at your local dealer at least once a year. Have the electric system and batteries tested at the beginning of the season
before use and at the end of the season before storage.
Reffer to the motor (5.2) and the battery (5.7) sections for details on maintenance.
7. HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR ELECTRIC BOAT
CAUTION
HEAVY WEIGHTS ON DECK
Do not walk or place heavy weights on the deck surface. It is advisable to install the full boat cover when the boat is exposed to direct
sunlight for extended periods.
WOOD MAINTENANCE
Never oil your Fantail 217 in direct sunlight. The wood may become marked and sanding may then be required.
