4. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
DISCONNECTING BATTERIES
Make sure that the batteries are properly disconnected when working on components of the electrical system. Always make sure
that there is no residual water in the boat when working on the batteries or any other component of the electrical system.
For detailed information about the various components, please check the appropriate sections below.
CAUTION
GENERAL OVERVIEW
The electrical harness of your Fantail 217 is built to American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) standards. It is design for maximum efficiency and security.
Your electric boat is equipped with for or six batteries plugged in series. The outboard electric motor is a 48V, with 36 amps/hr maximum thrust.
Therefore, the electrical system of your Fantail 217 is 12 V.
The diagram below shows the location of the various electrical components and the wirings. There are very low risks of possible electric shocks. Only
two locations need to be approached with precaution:
1. The batteries. Connect or disconnect your batteries using protective gloves and proper tooling. The batteries weigh +/-80 lbs or +/- 37kg; moving
them around necessitates proper tooling, handling and strength. It is recommended this be done at the nearest service centre or with the help of a
professional mechanic (who will use the proper tooling and equipment). Check the battery section of this Owner’s Manual for further details, or
contact your nearest Service Centre for servicing.
2. The connections of the E-Meter (battery gauge) and the ignition switch, located under the front bench, are a possible shocks zone. Don’t touch the
wiring without wearing insulated gloves and use proper tooling.
